Here is an easy meal to make if you are not used to making gluten free. My sister had us over for dinner tonight and she made spaghetti with meat sauce and a salad.
For the sauce, brown a pound of hamburger with 1 Tbsp dried minced onions. Once browned add a jar of Ragu (I have yet to find a Ragu sauce that is not gluten free). Allow to simmer while you cook the noodles. For the noodles use rice noodles – our favorite brand is DeBoles. If you are making some wheat based noodles (for non celiacs) and some rice noodles for the celiacs- be sure to use separate utensils for stirring and serving to prevent cross contaiminations. Also, drain the rice noodles before the wheat noodles. We make it a habit to serve the GF first to avoid contamination of the sauce by touching the wheat noodles. Top with freshly grated parmesan cheese.
The salad was a bag lettuce mix with tomatoes add. No croutons. You do need to be cautious with dressings as many have gluten. There are many gluten free options out there but tonight we had Ken’s Buttermilk Ranch.
